What
does Ethics have to do with Science?
-
Science is not value free: the scientific community
must be explicit about its expectations.
-
Ethics in science encompasses both the practice of
research and ethical issues associated with the
application of science and technology to societal
concerns and public policy. It must become an
integral and consistent part of science education.
-
Membership in the scientific community must include
an understanding of acceptable and unacceptable
practices in research, as well as awareness of the
ethical dimensions of the links between science and
society.
