superintendent reynolds

Dear New Rochelle Learning Community:

I am humbled and tremendously grateful to the Board of Education and to this community for being selected to serve as the Superintendent of Schools of the City School District of New Rochelle. The opportunity to lead this school community, with its vast wealth of promise and the many honored accomplishments that have already been realized, is a high honor for me. This is the first step of what I hope will be a long journey of us working together to ensure that every one of our students reaches their highest potential.

As you may know, I began my career in education as a kindergarten and first grade school teacher. At that time, I had hoped that I would have a lasting and meaningful impact on the lives of my students as they left their foundational year in my classroom and continued to grow into the life-long learners they could each become. That desire continued to develop, and I became drawn to sharing that opportunity with a larger number of students than the twenty-five or so each year in my classroom. This led me to seek to become an Assistant Principal, which started me on my path to become a Principal, then to serve as Assistant Superintendent in several districts. All along the way, my desire to clear the path for my students to achieve their highest potential has remained unwavering.

Now, having been sworn in as your Superintendent, I feel as though I am celebrating a commencement of my own, graduating to a role that will offer the prospect of showing our community and beyond how great our City School District of New Rochelle students, families, faculty, and staff truly are. I consider it the highest privilege to be entrusted with the care and education of our incredible students.

I look forward to continuing to work toward the vision we set when we refreshed our Strategic Roadmap; working with our Board of Education, administrators, faculty, staff, and community to attain the goals we have set in furtherance of student success. I am glad for the time I have spent in the school district as an Assistant Superintendent, where I gained an up-close familiarity with our school system, its people, and its processes. Together, we have crafted an ambitious vision for our school district and those experiences have given me a solid foundation from which to begin my Superintendency.

My door is open to you. I know that, working collaboratively, we can and will develop our talented students into the workforce, leaders, and innovators of tomorrow who will shape our community, nation, and world into a better place for all – inclusive of all. We are One New Rochelle.

Sincerely,

Dr. Corey W. Reynolds
