On Monday, August 24, the Class of 2026 graduated an additional 22 students, bringing this year’s total to 612. The ceremony took place in the recently renovated Whitney M. Young Auditorium at New Rochelle High School.
Administrators praised the graduates for their fortitude and determination in meeting their goal of earning their diploma. They highlighted the many obstacles the graduates overcame to achieve that hard-won success and encouraged them to apply that tenacity in meeting future goals.
"With the support of your family, your friends, your teachers and administrators, coupled with your hard work and dedication – you’ve made all of us, and, I hope, yourselves proud today," said Superintendent of Schools Dr. Corey W. Reynolds. "You held strong. You pushed through. And today, we get to celebrate you. We are gathered here today to celebrate a monumental, hard-won achievement. Today, you cross this stage not simply as students, but as the newest alumni of New Rochelle High School."
"You are ready to go out into the world as the citizens, the workers, and the thinkers of tomorrow," said Principal Dr. Dagoberto Artilies. "But you will always be part of us, and you will always have a home at New Rochelle High School. We are immeasurably proud of you, all you have already accomplished, and all you will do in the years ahead."
The graduates and their families enjoyed a brief celebration following the event with photos and refreshments to mark the occasion.
