Scott Rubins, a forensic science teacher at New Rochelle High School and an emergency medical technician (EMT) for 36 years, gave presentations at the National Collegiate Emergency Medical Services Foundation (NCEMSF) Conference in Pittsburgh in February. Over 800 student EMTs, representing EMS agencies from 80 colleges and universities throughout the country, attended.
Rubins' presentation, “EMS at Crime Scenes: Managing Your Safety and the Integrity of the Crime Scene,” was attended by approximately 75 EMT/students. He also presented that evening, during the plenary event, to almost 400 EMTs and paramedics during the “Interactive Crime Scene for EMTs” presentation.
Rubins was invited to the conference by Dr. Michael Hilton, a 2000 New Rochelle High School graduate and a NCEMSF board member (please see second photo). This was his second appearance as a presenter at the conference, also attended by Rubins’ son Jack, president of Muhlenberg College’ emergency medical service, and Marley Vogel, a Cornell University EMT who is a 2020 New Rochelle High School graduate.
